Incidents of Travel in Central America, Chiapas and Yucatan was a joyous read for several reasons, and, admittedly, I read through the entire volume in one sitting.

Initially, my first response when reading is to analyze the interaction between the narrator and Indigenous peoples who come into contact with the narrator during the expedition/5. John Lloyd Stephens, a lawyer who found fame as a writer, wrote a series of travel books, including two about his travels in Central America and Mexico.

I think his earlier volume, Incidents of Travel in Central America, Chiapas, and Yucatán, is superior to this later volume, but both are probably the most BOOKS ABOUT YUCATÁN: The best book 4/5.
